Pet Blessing at Old Whalers' Church

Our Annual Pet Blessing will take place on Sunday, October 13th at 11:30 AM on the front lawn of Old Whalers’ Church following our 10 AM service which celebrates animals in our world and in our lives. All pets are invited to join us at 11:30 AM out on our front lawn for a special service, and blessing for their health and well being as we recognize the love they bring to our lives. A special prayer card and treats are given to each pet family. All are welcome -please join us!

HarborFest at Old Whalers'

Old Whalers’ Church celebrates HarborFest-in its amazing building which is a National Historic Landmark. Come for a guided tour of this beautiful church and a demonstration of its historic pipe organ at 9 AM-stay for our historic service at 10 AM-sit for a bit with a cup of coffee or tea and some goodies at 11-and then a tour of the Old Burying Ground at 11:30-Used for about 100 years, the Old Burying Ground is the resting place of Sag Harbor's early residents, Revolutionary War Patriots, Whaling Captains and the founding fathers and mothers of the village.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Services

Old Whalers’ is one of the most beautiful places to spend Christmas Eve-the sanctuary beautifully decorated, the traditional carols played on the 1845 historic pipe organ, inspired words and candlelight. Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

“Poems, Prayer and Pie” and Interfaith Thanksgiving Service- Our community will come together to support harmony, diversity and goodwill among all faiths, as we unite on the common ground of gratitude. This service will be celebrated by more than a dozen local clergy members and musicians. Old Whalers’ Bell Choir will also be playing. Followed by friendship, fellowship and an amazing spread of pie.

A Day to Remember

At our Sunday Service we will remember friends, family members and community members who have passed this year. Names will be read, a bell tolled and a candle lit. The music and liturgy will focus on the love that remains.

Animal Blessing

Our 10 AM Sunday Service will focus on the wonder of animals in our lives-following the service we will have an outdoor blessing of our pets at 11:30 on the front lawn of the church. There will be time between the service and the outdoor blessing to go home to get your pets if you like.

Old Whalers' Homecoming

This will be such a special day. It will be what was once called our “Rally Day”- inviting all of the kids in the community and neighboring communities to join us for the start of an exciting and fun Sunday School Year! All kids welcome!!!! We will also be inviting back all of our past Old Whalers’ friends and families-to join us and experience all of the joy and life Old Whalers’ has to offer. We would love to see you again!!!! All newcomers welcome as well! We hope to have hotdogs and ice cream and fun out on the front lawn! Sunday School will be such a fun and rewarding program for all - addressing the importance of spirituality in the lives of our children. We are working hard to build community and revitalize our church so we hope you will join us!

HarborFest at Old Whalers'

Old Whalers’ Church has been a very important part of the history of Sag Harbor. We will celebrate HarborFest at 9 AM this year with an enlightening architectural tour of this National Historic Landmark given by well-known architect Randy Croxton - there will also be a demonstration of our pipe organ-the oldest working pipe organ on Long Island-by our master musician, Walter Klauss. This will be followed by a historic service which will include “The Voices of Old Whalers” past- with folks speaking the history of pew owners in first person- historic hymns and a celebration of our rich past. Following the service there will be a complimentary coffee hour and then at 11:30 a very information tour of the Historic Old Burying Ground next to the church with Zach Studenroth and Kurt Kahofer.. This is not to be missed- you will walk in the footsteps of the Old Whalers’, be inspired by their tenacity and integrity, join in historic hymns and feel the spirit of Sag Harbor old and new! Please join us!

I am so EXCITED- a special Sunday for Teacher/Student Blessing as they begin a new school year AND a MORNING PROGRAM MUSICAL REUNION! With Mrs. Rice, Mr. Fox, Mrs. Locascio and myself-Singing Together! SEPTEMBER 3rd!!!! -For everyone who has ever been to Morning Program this will be a special treat! Ice Cream Social

Join in the fun at Old Whalers’ Ice Cream Social - Saturday, July 29th from 4-7 on the front lawn of the church.. Games for kids and adults hosted by “Chess at Three'“ -chess, backgammon, interactive games and storytelling. Ice Cream provided by Big Olaf in Sag Harbor! Lots of toppings and lots of fun. We hope to see you there helping to support this beautiful church!

Rev. Bill Grimbol Returns to Old Whalers'

Rev. William Grimbol

Rev. Bill Grimbol will lead a service entitled, “Painting With Watercolors”. We are excited to welcome him back to the pulpit as he greets many old friends while making some new ones. This will also be a communion Sunday as we look forward to spending time with our old friend. Bill’s wisdom and storytelling will be a highlight of this service which I am sure will be memorable.
