SERMON SERIES FOR LENT AND EASTER:
"He Touched Me"
Over the next several weeks, we will witness to the Savior’s healing touch in a new sermon series. As we look at the lives of these various individuals, we will discover not only how the touch of Christ changed their lives, but how his healing touch can change ours as well. Next Sunday: Zacchaeus - Luke 19: 1-10. “Tax Collector Up a Tree.”

SPECIAL GUEST SOLOIST on SUNDAY, MARCH 30:
The Old Whalers’ Church is privileged to welcome Michael Maliakel as our guest soloist for the worship service on March 30. Michael Maliakel, baritone, is a promising young singer who is quickly gaining recognition for his refined singing and nuanced musicianship. A native of New Jersey, Mr. Maliakel, received his earliest vocal training as a treble in the American Boychoir, under the instruction of Dr. James Litton and Fernando Malvar-Ruiz. Mr. Maliakel recently completed his undergraduate studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University. In addition to his solo pursuits, Michael Maliakel enjoys teaching voice privately and performing regularly as a chorister with some of New York City’s finest professional vocal ensembles. In January 2014, he made his first solo appearance with Musica Viva of New York and will be the featured soloist at the Choral Society of the Hamptons concert on Sunday afternoon, March 30. Mr. Maliakel will be accompanied by our dear friend, Walter Klauss. Please plan to be in worship on March 30 to hear this phenomenal young man.

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING OFFERING TO BE RECEIVED DURING LENT
Through abundant and generous gifts to the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering (OGHS), Presbyterians have, for many years, faithfully heeded God’s call to serve those seeking to reclaim and restore their lives through three denominational programs. First, our gifts to OGHS enables the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to restore communities around the corner and around the world affected by disaster. Second, this offering helps the Presbyterian Hunger Program to work with Presbyterians and other partners to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes nationally and internationally. Finally, the Self Development of People program of the Presbyterian Church (USA) receives part of their funding from OGHS. This program affirms the dignity of all by assisting in the empowerment of economically poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged people. We will have the opportunity to learn more about all of these programs during Lent. OGHS coin banks are available in the church office and special OGHS offering envelopes are in the pews. Thank you in advance for your generous support of this life-changing and life saving offering.
