Throughout the weeks of Lent, we will be receiving our annual “One Great Hour of Sharing Offering.” A gift to One Great Hour of Sharing enables the church to share God’s love with our neighbors-in-need around the world by providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, provide food to the hungry, and helping to empower the poor and oppressed. Monies collected in this offering are used to support the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Fund, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and the Self Development of People program of the Presbyterian Church, (USA). One Great Hour of Sharing envelopes are in the pews and extra “Fish Banks” are available in the church office. We will dedicate this years special offering on Palm Sunday, March 29.

Bible Study - Posted On: Thursday, February 05, 2015

Our Monday night Bible Study group will begin a new Lenten study, “Final Words,” on Monday, February 23rd at 6:30 p.m. In life and in death, Jesus’ words were powerful and meaningful. Despite the serious effort and increased pain required for Jesus to speak as he hung on the cross, Jesus spoke seven “final words” that have much to teach us about Jesus, his Father, and ourselves. To guide us in our discussion, we will read Adam Hamilton’s Final Words from the Cross and view a weekly video presentation. In his book, Hamilton explores these final words through the eyes and ears of those who stood near the cross. Each chapter begins with the biblical account followed by a first person story as it might have been told from the viewpoint of one of the characters at the cross. Then the chapter explores the meaning of Jesus’ dying words for our lives today. Copies of the book are available in the church at $10.00 per copy.
